When I was researching the role, I spoke to Jen Psaki, who's so sharp. She feels the pressure of being a woman under another woman. Daisy is in the male-dominated world of Washington. Is Daisy a more stressful role than others you've played? One of the things I like about the show is that it lives up to its material, tonally-the vibe in your fake office feels just as tense and brusque as I imagine it is in the real State Department. You'll get to see her make some difficult choices this season. I can't tell you that much, but her fiance is kind of doing his own thing as well. Daisy isn't a bad girl, but she's very confused. They're working in the State Department they're together all the time. She's engaged and cheating on her fiance with her colleague, played by the very cute Geoffrey Arend.
And trying to meet guys in bars-when you don't find the person, it's a waste of makeup and money and a fierce outfit.ĭaisy, your Madam Secretary alter ego, doesn't have her love life quite so figured out. My husband is a venture capitalist, and I'm an actress. It's still sort of taboo-in the beginning, we were like, do we tell anyone we met online? But I'm proud we did. I'm past the phase of figuring out what I want. I'm old." But this weekend, being with my friends, I realized that my life is really starting now.
Finally, the night before my birthday, I was like "Oh, God, my twenties are gone. How do you feel about the big three-oh? Thirty kind of crept up on me, because I've been working so much. You had a hell of a weekend, ringing in 30 in Vegas with your girlfriends. (Miller "devoured" all three Hunger Games volumes in a week, just like you-and she promises that the third film stays true to the book's darkness.) We chatted by phone a few days after Miller's birthday celebrations-and Daisy's biggest episode yet. Oh, I almost forgot-she's also in this month's Mockingjay: Part 1, playing District 8's rebel leader Commander Paylor. Five months ago, she got married, and this past weekend, she turned 30. In 2013, she won the leading-actress Tony for her turn in Pippin on Broadway, then rode that momentum into a starring role on Madam Secretary-she plays dry, philandering press secretary Daisy.
